Bloody Good Stuff: 2010 Jaguar XJ

If you plan to roll into 2010 in style, there may be no better way to do it, than in the new Jaguar XJ. The timeless luxury brand has surprised loyalists with an upgraded re-design of their signature sedan. Remaining true to the traditional British design for over 30 years, Jaguar began to see a decrease in new consumer interest. As a result, they went back to the drawing board - emerging with a standout vehicle that begs forgiveness from no one. It may be a different look from what longtime Jaguar junkies are accustomed to but the XJ is bold and dynamic; truly Bloody Good Stuff.

Ocean Splash! was treated to an exclusive sneak peek of the seductive sedan and was left breathless. Still maintaining Jaguar’s signature blend of sport and sophistication, the vehicle offers an “elongated teardrop shape of the side windows, which establishes the car’s silhouette and lies at the heart of its flowing design.” Equipped with a coupe profile in a sedan body, it shares the same “drag coefficient of 0.29 with the XF sedan, making them among the most aerodynamic Jaguars ever.”

Jaguar boasts that the standout features of the XJ include:

  • An enhanced feeling of light and space inside of the vehicle, due to a panoramic glass roof, which allows the sedan to have a low, streamlined roofline.
  • Extended legroom thanks to a long wheelbase which caters to a “more sumptuous and refined environment for rear-seat passengers with an additional 5 inches of legroom.” Space will definitely not be an issue, with the XJ’s “largest-in class trunk” providing “power opening and closing for convenient access to the 18.4 cu. ft. storage space.”
  • Contemporary elegance is apparent with the tempting “chrome and piano black detailing” which compliments the exquisitely crafted leather and veneer surfaces.
  • Encouraging drivers to customize their vehicles for a more unique experience, Jaguar has stepped up their options with a variety of colors, leather and veneers never seen before in a Jaguar. Offered with all four models the – XJ, XJL, Supercharged and Supersport, customers can tailor specifications to “include a leather roof-lining, semi-aniline leather seats and veneers with laser inlays.”
  • While some luxury brands place handsomeness over sustainability, the new XJ minimizes its carbon footprint with its “lightweight aluminum structure - with 50% recycled material” says Jaguar. Compared to a shell made from new aluminum this saves “3 tons of CO2 per vehicle.”

“The all new XJ re-imagines the ultimate sporting luxury sedan. It's stunningly beautiful, exhilarating to drive and with a bold, enlightened approach to design meets the challenges of our fast-changing world,” describes Mike O’ Driscoll, the Managing Director of Jaguar Cars. Rave design reviews equal the same acknowledgments that the new Jaguar XJ has received for their dependability, safety and impressive fuel economy.
